Fixing the Health Care Decision

Here is the most important sentence from Chief Justice Roberts’ decision to uphold Obamacare:

“Members of this Court are vested with the authority to interpret the law; we possess neither the expertise nor the prerogative to make policy judgments. Those decisions are entrusted to our Nation’s elected leaders, who can be thrown out of office if the people disagree with them. It is not our job to protect the people from the consequences of their political choices.” (NATIONAL FEDERATION OF INDEPENDENT BUSINESS v. SEBELIUS; Opinion of ROBERTS, C. J., page 6)

The American people hate having anything crammed down their throats and then be told too bad, now go enjoy it. That is precisely what the Obama administration, along with former Speaker Pelosi and Senate majority leader Reid did to us when they wrote “The Affordable Care Act”, better known as Obamacare, behind closed doors. The Democrats then excluded all Republican representatives from providing input on the bill by barring them from committee meetings, manipulating Congressional procedures to advance the bill to a vote, and then held a near secret vote in the dead of night to pass it. This is how we got Obamacare; a law that the people do not want and the court now says is constitutional.

The latest polls showed that over 80 percent of the American people do not want Obamacare. We do not like things forced on us. There are problems with health care coverage in this country but rather than taking the opportunity to hold a national discussion on how to address the people’s medical needs, the Democratic party, in a display of naked power, used their legislative mandate to cut off all discussion and force a plan full of new taxes and features that nobody wanted, on the people.

There is a saying that everyone has the right to go to hell in the manner of his or her own choosing. Go back to the beginning and read Roberts’ words. “It is not our job to protect the people from the consequences of their political choices.” What he said is you elected them; you live with what they do. Or, as Larry the Cable Guy would say, you can’t teach stupid.

We were enamored by the idea of a post-racial president, so we elected a second-rate liberal to lead us. We were tired of the Asian wars, so we gave both houses of Congress to the Democrats. We put all our eggs in one basket and boy, did they scramble them for us. And the court said, yes, it is all legal. It is not our fault that you people are stupid.

So take solace in Chief Justice Roberts’ words who said “…decisions are entrusted to our Nation’s elected leaders, who can be thrown out of office if the people disagree with them” and do the right thing. You cannot challenge the law anymore. The Supreme Court said it is constitutional. However, as Yogi Berra would say, you can throw da bums out!

Romney said today, in response to the ruling, that he would start reversing it on the first day of his presidency. But first, you got to throw da bums out. Every Democrat congressman. Every Democrat senator. Every Democrat presidential candidate. They all have to go. And the job does not end there. You have to keep on electing conservative Republicans, at all levels of government, in election after election, until they have fundamentally redirected the course of American government back toward individual liberty, personal responsibility and limited government.

Believe and do it.
